Pinot Noir from the Yarra Valley has had the reputation of being the best in the country for 20 years now, and we were very lucky and excited to get this wine from one of the top producers in the valley! Pinot Noir at this price is usually nothing more than a dry red, without any of the varietal characters to recommend it to Pinot-philes, but we struck gold with this wine! It is ripe and fleshy, redolent of plums and cherry jam, but also showing the earthiness and a hint of gaminess that are so typical of Pinot. It is a little heavier than the average Pinot and shows fine, powdery tannins, finishing with a hint of tobacco. It is certainly an enjoyable wine and for those after a lighter red that still has integrity, please try our Pinot!
